what-we-do

What we do

Our mission is to mobilize community resources towards creation of comprehensive health systems for low income households (annual income base between Rs 40,000-200,000 for urban and Rs 40,000-90,000 for rural.) Creating such systems requires various skills and knowledge, and usually - there is a ramp-up time and cost before these systems become self-sustainable. Thus, both technical and financial resources are required.

Thus, our work includes:

  • Raising financial and technical resources above from individuals and organizations. These could be individuals or organizations looking to contribute to the cause, or experts in technical training or other aspects of health systems, and looking to go beyond the immediate domain of work
  • Partnering with grass roots organizations currently who currently serve the low income households and are looking to provide comprehensive health services to their beneficiaries. This partnership may work in following ways:
    1. Provide financial aid to setup and operate comprehensive health systems till they become self-sustaining
    2. Provide other resources - technical knowledge, tools, training material - and build capacity to setup and operate comprehensive health systems
    3. Provide volunteers, trainers and other human resources required to setup and operate comprehensive health systems

Providing Preventive and Primary health services in urban Haryana

Since September 2009, we are providing quality health services to workers of unorganised sector in Gurgaon and Faridabad districts of Haryana. The Haryana Building and Other Construction Worker Welfare Board has commissioned our partner LabourNet (through its parent organization MAYA) to setup and run four Worker Facilitation Centres (WFCs) located in Manesar industrial area, urban Gurgaon and urban Faridabad.

Each centre has a Primary care clinic with qualified health staff, each catering to a population of more than 1 Lakh. Community reach is increased by regular health camps in the community, which are co-ordinated by team of health facilitator and health workers

Till date more than 2500 lives have been touched through clinic and health check up camps and more than Rs. 80,000 worth benefit has been provided as discounts on drugs, laboratory tests and consultation.

Further plan includes to promote preventive health activities in the community through active participation of volunteer community health worker called Swasthya Sahayaks.
